The Miaoli County Government has constructed the Hakka Round House, a tulou-inspired building, in the Houlong High-Speed Rail Special District. Integrated with the beautifully revitalized Beishi River Waterfront Corridor, it serves as a striking gateway to Miaoli while showcasing the region’s refined local arts and cultural heritage, warmly welcoming visitors to the county.
Located near the Miaoli HSR Station, the Hakka Round House sits at the most prominent section of the waterfront corridor and is regarded as the “Heart of Beishi River.” Its architectural design is modeled after the traditional Hakka tulou structures of their ancestral homelands in mainland China, reflecting a strong Hakka cultural identity. The surrounding area features a circular pond-side walkway, a curved viewing platform, an entrance plaza, and waterside boardwalks, offering a variety of recreational facilities for visitors.
Covering an area of 1,385 square meters with a total floor area of 3,476 square meters, the Hakka Round House consists of one basement level and three above-ground floors. When viewed from above, the building forms a distinctive circular structure. Every Saturday and Sunday, local Hakka arts and cultural groups are invited to present performances. Exhibitions and themed events are also held periodically to promote and preserve the beauty of Hakka culture.Transportation Guide
